Graduate UX projects 2021

Our 2021 Graduate group was each given a topic and brief requirements to design a mobile application. They were required to present a complete working prototype with their design having a minimum of 3 features. They had two months to complete their designs and present their projects to the company. The following two grads presented their mobile applications for our online Tech Talk.

Melissa Domingues designed a sleeping application that she named Counting sheep. Sleep deprivation is when one doesn't get enough sleep and is out of sync with your body's natural body clock. A person can also be sleep deprived if they have a sleeping disorder. Sleep deprivation can lead to physical, mental problems, injuries and a loss of productivity.

Counting Sheep has been designed to improve one's sleep. The main features are a Circadian Rhythm Tracker, CBTI; a track of daily sleep factors, and a custom sleep radio.

Liza-Mari Wolhuter designed a pet adoption application that she named Palz. The dog adoption rate in South Africa is extremely low. In 2019, the adoption rate was as low as 12%, and in some cases, the adoption rate has been even lower. Palz is a unique app where people can view dogs available at shelters and show if they are interested in adopting a dog. Once the user's profile matches the dog, can set the adoption process in place. The app also allows users to sponsor a pet of their choice.
