Beerfest 2024: A Day of Good Brews, Great Food, and Even Better Company
This past weekend, the Rabbits gathered for what can only be described as an incredible day filled with brews, tasty potjies, live music, and camaraderie. Our Beerfest, hosted at our open field, saw employees, their plus-ones, and clients come together to enjoy a true celebration of community.
The day kicked off at 11:00, and the air was buzzing with excitement as brewers showcased their creations. Armed with brewing kits and a sundries allowance, these teams had been working tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the event to perfect their craft. Tastings began at 11:30, with all the Rabbits and clients judging the brews via our custom Beerfest app. The variety was impressive, with each brew offering something unique, from refreshing light lagers to bold, hoppy IPAs. It was impossible to pick a favorite, but it’s safe to say every palate was satisfied.
By midday, the marquee was alive with chatter, music, and the smell of sizzling potjies. The potjie competition, which started at 16:00, was nothing short of spectacular. Teams huddled around their pots, stirring up mouth-watering stews. Whether it was the rich, meaty flavors or the vegetarian options, everyone had something delicious to enjoy. A special mention to our potjie teams for their fantastic offerings, ensuring everyone was catered for.
In between beer tastings and potjie prep, the vibe was kept alive by live performances from Just Mia, Lungelo Moyo, and Blou Moore. Each band brought their own energy, keeping the crowd entertained and relaxed. We also had DJ Jinji on the decks. Black Heidi, our incredible MC, kept the day running smoothly and made sure everyone was engaged, from brewing commentary to potjie updates.
One of the things that stood out most was the sense of ownership displayed by everyone who participated. From the brewers crafting their beers to the potjie makers perfecting their recipes, each person took pride in what they brought to the table. It’s this commitment to taking ownership that made the event so special. Everyone’s contributions truly shone through.
As the day progressed, we were treated to a perfect finish: the Springboks vs All Blacks rugby match. Fans gathered under the marquee, cheering on the Boks as the game streamed live. It was the perfect way to wrap up the festival, surrounded by friends, food, and the excitement of the match.
A big thank you to our event suppliers, who made sure we had everything we needed to make this day a success—from the brewing kits to the production team. We also extend our gratitude to our clients for their participation and enthusiasm throughout the day.
